Warframe Steel Path Tier List (2026)

Steel Path rewards scaling kits: infinite or near-infinite damage, Overguard, loot loops, and frames that do not fall over when a tile packs full. This page is the SP-focused reading of our July 2026 / Update 43 rankings.

What “good on Steel Path” actually means

Steel Path enemies hit harder and spawn denser. A frame that felt fine on the normal star chart can stall if it lacks: (1) damage that scales with enemy level or density, (2) a real survivability plan (Overguard, Mesmer-style invuln, shield gating, or range CC), and (3) energy economy for long missions. That is why Saryn, Octavia, Wisp, Dante, Revenant, Wukong, and Temple keep showing up on public 2026 lists — they solve at least two of those problems without exotic gear. Weapon investment still matters. A mid Warframe with a strong incarnon or primed weapon can outperform an unmodded S-tier. Treat this page as a Warframe shortlist, then confirm builds on Overframe and in our drawer stats on the main tier list.

A-tier SP workhorses

Khora and Nekros are SP farming engines more than pure DPS — bring them when you care about drops. See the resource farming guide. Revenant and Wukong sit in our S-core for solo SP (Mesmer Skin / Defy) — still the training-wheels picks Itemku and creator solo lists cite. Volt and Wisp crossover into Eidolon nights even when you are not running classic SP Survival.

Uriel, Cyte-09, and Follie are strong A / new-frame bands while builds settle — same pattern creator roundups use for recent releases. Sirius & Orion (Update 43) stay A for the dual-kit learning curve.

Filter the live SP board

What Steel Path actually changes

Steel Path is a star-chart overlay: enemies gain levels, armor/shields scale harder, and Eximus density goes up. Rewards improve (Steel Essence, better drop odds on some loops), but the skill check is real. If you cannot clear a normal node without burning all revives, SP will feel like a brick wall — that is a mods and awareness problem more than a “wrong Warframe” problem.

Community lists (Overframe votes, MHBlacky / KnightmareFrame / Brozime videos, Itemku solo shortlists) converge on frames that either scale with density, ignore damage, or carry the squad. Raw health tanks without armor strip or Overguard fall off first.

S-core SP picks and why (not fluff)

Mission-type loadouts

Survival / Disruption farms: Khora + Nekros for loot, Saryn or Nokko for corpses. Details in farming.

Defense / Excavation: Mesa, Frost (Globe), Gara, Limbo (solo only if squad agrees).

Exterminate / Capture speed: Gauss, Volt, Titania Razorwing.

Spy on SP / Sortie: Ignore DPS rankings — Wukong Cloud Walker, Ivara Infiltrate, Octavia invis. See Spy.

Helminth flips half the list

Roar (Rhino), Eclipse (Mirage), Dispensary (Protea), and armor-strip subsumes move B-tier frames into A for specific tiles. If a frame feels “mid” on our board, check whether you have Helminth unlocked before writing it off. Creator lists assume Helminth exists for endgame rankings.

Armor strip and energy — the two SP taxes

Unstripped Grineer armor at SP levels wastes magazines. Bring Corrosive / Heat status, Xaku Gaze, Pillage, or a squadmate who strips. Energy: Zenurik, Equilibrium, Dispensary, or Energy Nexus — casters without an economy plan die with an empty pool, not to the enemy.

New / late frames on SP

Uriel, Cyte-09, Follie, and Sirius & Orion sit in high A while builds settle — same pattern every patch. Temple and Nokko already appear on S bands in several public write-ups. Filter the homepage by Late / quest-gated if you only want post–New War unlocks.

Checklist before your first SP night

  1. Star chart completeJunctions done; Railjack / open worlds optional but helpful.

Squad roles on Steel Path

A healthy SP squad is rarely four DPS clones. Typical split: one clearer (Saryn/Mesa/Gauss), one sustain (Wisp/Dante/Protea), one loot if farming (Khora/Nekros), one flex (Revenant solo safety or Volt for speed). Pubs will not organize — bring a kit that still works if teammates ignore objectives.

If you only have one strong frame, Revenant or Wukong lets you finish the mission alone. If you only have supports, you need a weapon that can kill — Overguard does not delete enemies by itself.

Incarnon and weapon note

Incarnon adapters and strong primed weapons multiply every frame. A B-tier Warframe with a invested Incarnon can outperform an unmodded S-tier. Our board ranks frames assuming reasonable investment, not zero-Forma market defaults and not fully min-maxed riven gods.

Deep Archimedea / hard modes

Hard mode modifiers punish certain playstyles (energy drain, no shields, etc.). Keep a second loadout: one shield-gate frame, one health tank, one energy-independent option (Lavos, Hildryn). Check weekly modifiers before you blame the tier list.

Update 43 context

Jade Shadows: Constellations added Sirius & Orion and shifted fashion/meta talk, but the Steel Path staples above did not vanish. New frames take weeks of Overframe uploads before we promote them to S without evidence. Until then they stay labeled Late unlock with an honest A or high-A note on the card.
